My dad had a stroke a little over a month ago. He's finally home, though he still needs a walker and more physical therapy. He's extremely stubborn and even after being told repeatedly not to get up on his own, he attempted to today while my mom was getting dressed and I was asleep. I awoke to the sound of him crashing to the floor in my room. Thank god he was only scratched up some and not seriously injured. He won't admit it, but we think he was trying to sneak into my brother's room to find cigarettes. It's so fucking sad that after everything he's been through he still wants to light one up. I hate preachifying, but if you're a smoker please think about how fucking ridiculous cigarettes are for a moment. And if you don't give a shit about your own life, try being a little less selfish and think about those who care about you.
